The Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation (JOCDEF), in partnership with ABSA Bank, is hosting an event in Sebei Sub-Region under the theme “Running for the Girl Child to Keep Her in School.” This initiative aims to empower girls, raise awareness of their rights, and promote education through sports. The event will bring together local communities, leaders, and key stakeholders to highlight the importance of girls’ education and address challenges that hinder their academic progress.


Key Objectives:


To engage community members, district leaders, and students on the importance of keeping girls in school and advocating for their rights.
To raise awareness on menstrual hygiene management and the provision of reusable sanitary pads for girls to support their education.
To strengthen the collaboration between local actors such as community leaders, political figures, and educators, ensuring they support girls’ education.
To provide a platform for girls to express their needs and concerns regarding their education and rights, fostering a stronger connection with their local duty bearers.

Event Highlights:

Awareness Sessions: The event will focus on educating girls about their rights, menstrual hygiene, and the importance of staying in school.
Sports for Empowerment: As part of the initiative, the event will also highlight the role of sports in empowering the girl child, using sports as a medium to raise awareness and encourage participation from all sectors of society.
